Wild Thyme - Common Knapweed - Centaurea Nigra
Also called Black Knapweed, the tightly packed reddish-pink flower heads on erect stalks have the appearance of soft thistles with their distinctive fringed dark brown, knobbly bracts behind the flowers.
Flowers are one and a half ins across and appear from Jun - Sep.
Happy in dry or damp conditions and though they are a fantastic shot of colour in a wildflower meadow, don't feel you have to limit its use, it also looks great in the border!
Given the right care, this plant should thrive in your garden for many years.
Available in a 1L pot.
